Veritas is a grounding and reality-checking tool designed to help you stay present during moments of uncertainty. It provides audio and visual reality checks, grounding exercises, journaling, and access to crisis resources. It's particularly helpful for people who experience anxiety, dissociation, or perceptual disturbances.
The Audio Check uses your device's microphone to listen to ambient sounds for 10 seconds. Using on-device speech recognition, it analyzes whether there are human voices present in your environment. All processing happens locally on your device — no audio is recorded, stored, or sent anywhere.
The Visual Check uses your camera to detect the presence of people nearby using on-device computer vision. It can identify faces and human figures in real-time. Like the audio check, all processing is done locally and no images are saved or transmitted.
Yes, absolutely. Veritas processes all audio and visual data entirely on your device. We don't use any external servers, cloud services, or third-party analytics. Your journal entries and check history are stored locally on your device and are never accessible to us or anyone else.
The microphone is used solely for Audio Checks to detect ambient sounds. The camera is used only for Visual Checks to detect people nearby. Both are only activated when you explicitly start a check, and all data is processed locally and immediately discarded.

Troubleshooting
🎙️ Microphone Not Working
Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone and ensure Veritas is enabled. Try restarting the app after granting permission.
📷 Camera Not Working
Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera and ensure Veritas is enabled. If issues persist, try reinstalling the app.
🔇 Speech Recognition Issues
Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Speech Recognition and ensure Veritas is enabled. Also check that your device language is supported.
💾 Data Not Saving
Ensure your device has sufficient storage. Journal entries and check history are stored locally. Try force-closing and reopening the app.
